Smoking can be quite a bone of contention on cruises for both none smokers and smokers alike, whether you smoke or not it can be quite a touchy subject.
As a smoker its "where can we smoke" and as a non smoker its "you can’t smoke here or that stinks" So, i decided, as a none smoker that this would be a great place for me to point my own (albeit whinging!) point across from my personal experience recently on the Navigator of the seas and the Spanish smokers.....
My Trip on the Navigator of the Seas started off from Malaga, this is obviously a prime place for the Spanish to join the cruise and so the occupancy of Spanish was much higher than any, and we all know the Spanish like a ciggy! I was not wrong!

Usually the cruise line will only let you smoke in a few certain designated areas but this went right out of the porthole window on this cruise, pun intended! Due to the high volume of Spanish the cruise line clearly relaxed the smoking policy as they were literally lighting up anywhere with not a word said....this was obviously very frustrating as a none smoker as i don’t know about you but i don’t like having to walk through a cloud of smoke every time i want to get somewhere! But i have come to realise the Spanish just do not care! Therefore my final word of wisdom from this is that you should be careful when you choose your cruises if smoking bothers you as it can be a pain in the cigarette butt!
